EU geoeconomics in money and finance: From ad hoc to coherent strategy
- Brussels Institute for Geopolitics
- Policy Briefing
Abstract
This policy brief takes four steps. First, it compares the geoeconomic strategies in money and finance of the US, China and the EU. Second, it explains why the EU’s ‘muddling through’ is institutionally rational, given its governance architecture, and proposes a European Economic Security Council to close the governance gap. Third, seven lines of action for a European strategy in money and finance are proposed. Finally, some conclusions are drawn.
